Equality

At North Blackburn Square Clinic, we respectfully treat our staff as well as our patients equally. Regardless of race, sexuality, age, gender, religion, disability, or beliefs, we are an equal opportunity healthcare provider as well as employer.

Confidentiality

All medical records are kept strictly confidential and are computerised at North Blackburn Square Clinic. According to our policy, we maintain ethical as well as professional responsibilities. Moreover, this ensures the security of all personal health information is protected in accordance with federal and state privacy regulations. The Victorian Health Privacy Principles (HHPs), which forms a part of the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), and the federal Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) forming part of the Privacy Act 1988 are complied with at North Blackburn Square Clinic.

For more information about HHPs and APPs, go on to Australian Information Commissioner’s website, www.oaic.gov.au.

None of your personal health information will be revealed to a third party unless theses following situations occur. Disclosure to third party takes place when you have consented to the disclosure. The other situation where disclosure takes place is it becomes essential when you are at risk of harm without treatment and, thus, unable to give consent. An example for this is you being unconscious due to an accident. On the other hand, your medical professional is legally obliged to disclose the information in cases of severely infectious disease, suspected child abuse, court order, or a subpoena. This disclosure is done in the interest of public health and safety interest. Thus, it is not possible for test trust results to be conveyed via the telephone.

If you wish to know more, please request a copy of the AMA privacy policy from our dedicated staff.
