The North Blackburn Square Medical Clinic was established by Dr. Ron Blake in 1981 in the North Blackburn Square Shopping Centre, opposite the current site. It has since expanded to a four doctor practice. The Clinic is committed to providing quality family medical care. All of our doctors are highly experienced and provide a comprehensive range of services, including Mens's & Women's health issues, paediatrics, Aged Care, Emergency Care, Spirometry, Acupuncture, Minor Surgery, Palliative Care, Shared Obstetric Care, Home Visits, EPC Clinic, Diabetes Clinic & an Asthma Clinic.

Our Services Include

Women's Health

Cervical Screening has changed now in Australia. The “Pap Test” has been replaced with a new Cervical Screen Test every 5 years. Your GP will tell you how this affects you. Breast examinations are provided and self-breast examination is taught. It is recommended that all women have an annual breast examination by a doctor and examine her own breast every month. All women over 50 should have a mammogram every two years which can be arranged by your doctor. Family Planning and contraception advice is available. Implanon, Marina and IUD insertion is available. Menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy advice is also available. Shared Obstetric Care is also offered at the Box Hill Hospital and Mercy Hospital. We also offer free health checks for women 45-49 years.

Men's Health

Our doctor can provide examinations for Prostate Cancer and Testicular Cancer. Our doctors can also advise and offer treatment for physical, emotional and social health as well as men’s sexual and reproductive health. Free health checks are offered for men 45-49 years.

Child Health

All infants and childhood vaccinations are available here and we strongly advise children have these for general wellbeing and also to be able to gain school entry. All doctors have experience in children’s health.

Shared Obstetric Care

Dr Melissa Soares and Dr Genny Walker participate in shared care arrangements with Box Hill Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Monash Hospital.

Travel Vaccination

Our doctors are able to advise on Trave Vaccinations, and other preventative measure required for various destinations. Please note Travel Vaccines should ideally be commenced 1 month prior to travel.

Cosmetic and Minor Surgical Procedures

Surgical removal of moles and lumps. Treatment of skin cancers. Ear syringing

Acupuncture

Complimentary medicine using fine needles inserted into the skin.

Skin Checks

Scanning and checking of moles and sunspots. Liquid nitrogen therapy to sunspots and warts.

Appointments

Telephone us on (03) 9878 3100 after 8.45am to obtain an appointment with the doctor of your choice.  If your doctor is not available another doctor will be available to see you.  Urgent problems and emergencies will always be seen.

A standard consultation is 15 minutes.  Longer consultations are available on request.

If you are unable to keep your appointment please contact us as soon as possible to avoid a late cancellation or missed appointment fee.

 

Care outside normal opening hours

Home and other visits

Home Visits are available for regular patients of the practice within a 5 KM radius, whose condition prevents them being able to attend the surgery

Telephone access

Doctors are available to speak to patients on the phone if necessary, however, in busy times the doctor may need to return your call.

Receiving results of any test or procedure

Whilst doctors will sometimes take a phone call for results, it is always preferable to make an appointment to discuss results face to face.  In the case of abnormal results reception staff will contact you to make an appointment to return to see the doctor.
